The Tribunal has conditionally approved the transaction whereby Sun Valley Estates (Pty) Ltd (“Sun Valley”) intends to acquire Ascendis Vet (Pty) Ltd, Ascendis Animal Health (Pty) Ltd, Kyron Laboratories (Pty) Ltd and Kyron Prescriptions (Pty) Ltd.
The acquiring group is an agriculture and food group which focuses on agricultural inputs and services, fresh fruit, food processing and health foods. The target firms develop, import, manufacture, warehouse, distribute and market (primarily) medication across both the production and companion animal health markets.

Bonitas Medical Fund And Nedgroup Medical Aid Scheme
The Tribunal has unconditionally approved the large merger between Bonitas Medical Fund (“Bonitas”) and Nedgroup Medical Aid Scheme (“NMAS”).
Bonitas is an open medical scheme while NMAS operates as a restricted or closed medical scheme with membership restricted to employees and retirees of Nedbank and Old Mutual Insure. Both offer administration services, managed care services, asset management services, capitation arrangements, actuarial services, investment consulting and auditing services.
