The Competition Tribunal has approved three intermediate mergers as follows:
- between Rebel Packaging (Pty) Ltd (“Rebel”) and Box Boyz (Pty) Ltd (“Box Boyz”);
- between Rebel and Right Corrugated Containers (Pty) Ltd (“Right Corrugated”); and
- between Rebel and Seyfert Corrugated Western Cape (Pty) Ltd (“Seyfert”).
Rebel is an indirect subsidiary of Mpact Limited (“Mpact). Mpact’s business involves the production of paper and plastic packaging products and recycling. Mpact’s paper business includes the production of converted, corrugated and other paper packaging products.
Box Boys, Right Corrugated and Seyfert operate sheetplants, respectively. Sheetplants acquire corrugated board from corrugating plants and use that as an input to produce corrugated boxes and other products.
